Curtis Mayfield is one of the most important and highly regarded figures in Soul and Funk music.

The solo albums he recorded between 1970 up until the time of his tragic accident in August 1990 and which were released on his own record label, Curtom Records, remain as testament to his genius.

The two original Curtom albums which make this 2-On-1 CD Release, both produced by Mayfield himself, are the last two studio albums he recorded before the accident which left him paralysed.

We Come In Peace With A Message Of Love marked Mayfield’s return to recording following three years in semi-retirement when it was released in February 1985.

Released in April 1990, Take It To The Streets saw Mayfield revitalised with a new band and a new sound. A return to the form of his early Seventies' heyday and critically-acclaimed on both sides of the Atlantic, the album looked destined to return him to the limelight, until the accident which occurred during the promotional tour.
