60TH ANNIVERSARY RE-ISSUE OF ONE OF JOHNNY CASH’S MOST POPULAR SONGS

TO MARK 60 YEARS SINCE IT WENT TO NO.1 ON THE COUNTRY CHARTS!

Newly-remastered from the original Sun Records master tapes and cut direct to lacquers, I Walk the Line is an official Sun Records single re-release, reissued on its original catalogue number. Available on replica Sun single labels and housed in a facsimile Sun Records house-bag.

Recorded on 2 April 1956 and released 1 May 1956, the single went to No.1 in the Country charts and no.19 in the national charts. It later featured on the first ever Sun Records LP, ‘Johnny Cash With His Hot And Blue Guitar’ released in 1957.

I Walk The Line has the measured dignity of absolute conviction. Lyrically perfect in every detail, this wonderfully-realised metaphor weds the wanderlust world of transcontinental railroads with the moral strictures of the straight and narrow. A definitive statement on the tie that binds, it really doesn't invite cover versions….

Coupled with its original b-side Get Rhythm, which Cash allegedly wrote for Elvis Presley.

Both songs are taken from the ‘Johnny Cash - The Original Sun Albums 1957 – 1964’ (Sun Records CHARLYB916) an 8-CD set packaged with a 60-page hardback book containing every classic Cash album released by Sam Phillips’ legendary Sun Records between 1957 and 1964
