The first authorised release of the September 1969 gig by the psychedelic legends in San Francisco.  Features the classic band line up and a 26 minute jam along with the Grateful Dead’s Jerry Garcia.

Following Charly’s previous CD releases of legendary Jefferson Airplane concerts from their heyday period here is a third one, this time recorded at the famous San Franciscan venue of The Family Dog Ballroom in September 1969 when the group was at the peak of its considerable power.

Unearthed from the archives, this release - by one of the genre's finent exponents - is sure to be most welcomed by all fans of prime West Coast psychedelia. It is arguably the finest of the three in terms of the inspired performances herein, the featured songs, and the fact that it has remained virtually unheard for so long.

It features the classic group line-up of Paul Kantner (guitar, vocals), Grace Slick (vocals), Marty Balin (vocals), Jorma Kaukonen (lead guitar, vocal), Jack Casady (bass) and Spencer Dryden (drums). For the closing 26-minute ‘Jam’ they are joined by the Grateful Dead’s Jerry Garcia, whose distinctive guitar sound adds a new and unique dimension to the group’s sound.

Come Back Baby’, never recorded by the group in the studio, features a rare lead vocal from Jorma Kaukonen. Old favourites ‘Crown Of Creation' and 'Somebody To Love', along with five new numbers from their forthcoming studio album ‘Volunteers’ make this a must-have release for fans, old and new alike.

Taken from the best available audio sources, these superb performances have been meticulously restored for this inaugural release.
