At Golden Gate Park [2LP vinyl]

'Opener 'The Other Side Of This Life' finds them firing on all six cylinders, with the superb trademark vocal interplay between Slick and Balin very much in evidence, while an up-tempo 'Plastic Fantastic Lover' showcases the telepathic, power house rhythm section of Casady and Dryden. An absorbing snapshot of the archetypal Summer of Love band taken just as the idealistic dream began to fade. ★★★★ ' Jason Hobart, Shindig!

'Captures Jefferson Airplane at a key point... powerfully transports the listener back to a particular moment in time. ★★★★ ' Record Collector

The first authorised issue on vinyl of the psychedelic band’s legendary San Francisco gig from 7th May 1969.

The first rock group from San Francisco’s psychedelic music scene to achieve national and commercial success, Jefferson Airplane defined the city’s sound.

Golden Gate Park, the outdoor venue of choice for San Fran’s psychedelic bands and their fans, hosted many concerts, happenings and love-ins in the late 1960s.  One of the most famous took place on the afternoon of 7th May 1969 when Jefferson Airplane shared the bill with The Grateful Dead.

Although the Airplane’s memorable performance has been available on inferior bootlegs, this deluxe 2LP set packaged in a gatefold sleeve marks its first authorised vinyl release.  Using the very best available audio source, these recordings have been meticulously restored and have never sounded better.

The concert captures the group at the height of their creative powers and popularity. Within a few months they went on to feature on the bills of two of the most iconic music events of the 1960s; the legendary Woodstock Festival and The Rolling Stones’ ill-fated Altamont concert.

Featured herein are tracks from their forthcoming album Volunteers, alongside live favourites from their earlier days including their two biggest hit singles, ‘White Rabbit’ and ‘Somebody To Love’.

Also included are rarities in the shape of one of their trademark improvised jams which showcases their brilliant musicianship, and the rarely heard, non-album number ‘Uncle Sam Blues’.
